The Blue Ridge Mountains, which surround my home with their ever changing moods, have been a continuing source of inspiration to me as a tapestry weaver.
My intention is to create peaceful places, microcosms one may enter for replenishment. A colorist, I seek to express the ever-changing nuances of light and color through subtle blendings of fibres, color tones and textures. For me, harmonious use of color, line and texture communicate the beauty, balance and sensuousness I experience in nature.
A graduate of the University of South Florida, l apprencticed in fibers with Dr. Lorraine Force at Appalachian State University and received scholarships two summers to Penland Craft School and have continued my training over the years.
A resident of Boone, NC 33 years, I've been a member of the Guild since 1986.
Featured in over 30 invitational and juried exhibitions, I was chosen to represent the Biltmore House during their "Year of the Tapestry" celebration. I've received over a dozen ribbons and many purchase awards.
My work has been featured in numerous publications including: Fiber Arts Design Book V, Making Amazing Art, Better Homes and Gardens, House Beautiful and Southern Aviator Magazine. A fall weaving "Appalachian Sunset" appeared in the film "28 Hours".
Commissions available for public viewing can be seen at the EPA Visitor Center in Raleigh, WNC Arboretum in Asheville, Appalchian State University "Whitewatr Room", NCNB in Chattanooga, Tennessee, Blue Ridge Elctric Membership in Boone, Asmo International in Statesville and the permanent colletion of the Fire House Gallery in Burlington, NC.
A few private and permanent collections include those of Muriel Hemingway, former Lt Governor Bob and Sarah Jordan, the Whittington's and Avera's in Winston Salem and the Weeds in Charlotte.

Originally, a mountain family endeavor, my Mother and youngest daughter Erin assisted me early on. Mother has passed away and Erin is now a designer in NY.
