Balsam Mountain Pottery

My pots are purposefully pretty, lyrical and narrative, visual poems to the Southern Appalachians. The motifs reflect the plants, animals and landscapes of these mountains. I'm inspired by Palissy, the French potter of the 1500s, and historic American Art Potteries Rookwood and McCoy

Laurey-Faye Long received a BFA from the University of Georgia, an AA from Haywood Community College and is a past resident artist of the Visual Arts Center of Alaska. She is currently a studio potter in Balsam NC and a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild.
