I love working on a small intricate scale. The focus required leads to a quiet centering; a still point from which peace and creativity flow. The art of creation, of capturing the essence of an "object" in a moment of time, is as if stumbling upon a single most rare and delicate wildflower on a woodland walk, exquisite in its simplicity, a world unto its own which beckons me, not only to witness, but to participate in...
My path toward becoming a glass artist began in 1994 after attending a flameworking class in Sante Fe, New Mexico. Upon return to South Carolina I set up a studio where I immersed myself in this new medium. It soon became evident that my passion and talent lay in intricately detailed work. This led to my interest in miniature paperweights and pendants. I occasionally delve into the magical world of dollhouse miniatures, creating the tiniest of objects for dollhouse enthusiasts. A touch of sparkling goldstone or dichroic glass is often found in my work, giving it an ethereal effect.
I have been fortunate to win awards at national Bead & Button Shows, and I am a juried artisan in the International Guild of Miniature Artisans. My work can be found in the permanent collection of the Bersgstrom-Mahler Paperweight Museum, as well as in private collections. |
